ALL-ASA LEADERSHIP RETREAT

Applications for the 2024 All-ASA Leadership Retreat (February 23-25 at AYF Camp Big Pine) are now OPEN! The deadline to apply is February 9, 2024.

The All-ASA Leadership Retreat is an annual tradition which brings together Armenian students to learn, network, and grow into the future leaders of their ASA chapters, communities and professional fields. The theme of this year’s retreat is “unlocking our Armenian potential.”

The retreat includes a series of professional workshops taught by pioneers in tech, medicine, law and business, as well as discussions led by student activists and community leaders — and of course, plenty of fun cultural activities and opportunities to meet fellow Armenians! Alumni are also encouraged to apply and attend.

The keynote speaker and full list of guest speakers will be made public in the coming weeks on All-ASA’s social media. A full schedule and itinerary will be shared with all accepted applicants ahead of the retreat. Check out the latest post on our Instagram which answers some of the most frequently asked questions about the leadership retreat!

CELEBRATING ARMENIAN EXCELLENCE

Three Armenian students from the College of the Canyons (COC) ASA are set to participate in the NASA-organized "RockSat X" competition. Noy Hakobyan, Vatche Patrikyan, and Aram Aprahamian are engineering leaders who will build a payload that will launch on a rocket up to 100 miles. The COC team was chosen from among 10 universities competing for five spots on the rocket.

The team's mission is to build a payload that will deploy three capsules 100 miles above sea level. The capsules will collect data on the concentration of sulfur dioxide in the air, which plays a crucial role in reflecting UV radiation and keeping the Earth cool. However, sulfur dioxide emissions also contribute to acid rain, which can have harmful effects on the environment. Therefore, the collection of data on this issue is essential. The success of this mission will contribute to the development of exploration on other planets by providing the ability to understand the atmosphere of exoplanets. This competition is an excellent opportunity for these Armenian students to showcase their talents and skills — All-ASA wishes them the best of luck!
